Dr. Karla Juhl, DVM
Dr. Karla Juhl grew up on a farm near Sumner, Iowa, and always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. After graduating from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, she worked at a mixed animal practice for two years before purchasing the Fredericksburg Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Harold Nordaas in September of 2012. She and her husband, Jarred have three children, Ella, Jack, and Jenna, and a Bernese Mountain Dog, Aubree.
Dr. Kristen Cuperus, DVM
Dr. Kristen Cuperus (Johnson) has been with our clinic since June of 2019. She grew up on a farm near Fulda, Minnesota. Dr. Kristen attended the UW-La Crosse, then the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated in 2017. She first practiced for 2 years in South Dakota where she worked primarily with cattle. She lives in Sumner with her husband Sam and son Isaac, three dogs: Calamity, Lincoln, & Walker, and two cats: Bane & Kevin. In her spare time, Kristen enjoys gardening, hiking, reading, and traveling.
Nichole Wurzer, CVT
Nichole has been with our clinic since 2012, and a veterinary technician since 2014. She is originally from NE Iowa. She loves working with large animals and being there for pets and their owners during difficult times. She spends most of her free time with her son Luke and boyfriend Adam. Nichole also loves going to cattle shows with her family, riding horses, and reading. She also has three dogs: Stella, Wren, and Rey. On their farm they also have horses, goats, and a lot of farm cats.
Professional Pet Stylist
Stacy has been with our clinic since 2014, and a professional groomer since 2003. Stacy enjoys spending time with friends, family, her fiancé Garry. She also has three dogs: Madison, Makenzie, River and one cat Rocky. In the summer they are active outside fishing, boating and grilling.
Shayla Kuennen, RVT
Shayla has been with our clinic since May 2021 after graduating from the NICC Veterinary Technician program. She grew up on a farm outside West Union. Shayla is excited to be able to help a variety of animals every day! She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, going camping, and planting lots of plants. She also enjoys exploring new places and going on hikes with her fiancé Tristan and crazy aussie, Mabel.
Jayden Usher, RVT
Jayden graduated from the NICC Veterinary Technician program in 2022 and joined our clinic in November of 2022. She grew up in the New Hampton area. Jayden now lives in Nashua with her boyfriend Dillon, and they are expecting their first child. When not at work, Jayden enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time at her grandparent’s farm. She also enjoys spending time with her four dogs. She has three labs: Dutch, Reba, and Willow, and one German Shorthair Pointer, Scout.
Brighton graduated from Iowa State University in December of 2022 with an Animal Science Degree. She grew up in Blanchester, Ohio and currently lives in Hawkeye with her three dogs, Purdy, Dyna, and Bingo. During her free time, she raises and breeds sheep, and enjoys showing them across the country. She also plays a pretty mean harmonica.
Tim has over 22 years of experience in the veterinary field from Receptionist to Vet Assistant, and most recently, the Practice Manager for 2 offices. He started working for his friend's dad at his vet clinic when he was in high school in Dubuque before working for a hospital with five offices in the Davenport/Bettendorf area. In 2008 Tim, his wife Tonya, and son Joseph, moved to Fredericksburg to be close to Tonya's family. At that time he joined a hospital with 2 offices in the area and was there until he joined our clinic in May of 2022.
When not at work, you can find him taking pictures of his son's swim teams in Cedar Falls and Sumner, or watching his son play football at the Sumner-Fredericksburg high school. Tim also enjoys spending time with his family, especially in his backyard with his three dogs Arson, Kittle, and Pancakes, and the BBQ grill going. He also has 3 friendly cats, Waffles, Marshmallow, and Smoug.
